CityU VDL has validated a new immunohistochemical (IHC) marker to add to our comprehensive range of IHC markers. The marker is called DOG1 (an abbreviation for Discovered On GIST) as it is a sensitive and specific biomarker to assist with the confirmation of GastroIntestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST) in the intestine of dogs and horses. If our pathologists suspect a GIST tumour in an intestinal biopsy, this marker can be used for confirmation.
